Instagram Reels safe-zone checker
Drop your Reel and see what Instagram covers: the top, the caption and buttons at the bottom, and the sides.
Your file never leaves this device. Everything runs in your browser.
How it works
- Drop a video or an image.
- Pick a platform, or All to see the area that's safe everywhere.
- Scrub through the video and check that no text or face sits in the shaded areas.
Questions
What's the Reels safe zone?
Meta says to keep the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% on each side clear of text and logos. On 1080 × 1920 that is 269 px, 672 px and 65 px.
Is it the same for Stories?
No. Stories cover less at the bottom: 14% at the top and 20% at the bottom. Pick Stories to see it.
Where do these numbers come from?
Meta publishes safe zones for Reels and Stories. TikTok and YouTube publish template images rather than numbers, so theirs are measured by third parties from those templates. Each platform's source is linked under the preview, and the whole table is free to reuse.
Are these the same for regular posts and ads?
The platforms publish these zones for ads. Regular posts get close to the same interface, but TikTok's covered area grows with a long caption, so leave extra room there.
Does my video get uploaded?
No. It's drawn in your browser, on your device.
My video isn't 9:16. What happens?
The apps show it with bars above and below, and the checker does the same. The Resize tool turns it into 9:16.
