Resize a video for an Instagram post

4:5, 1080 × 1350, is the tallest shape the Instagram feed shows. The preview also marks the 3:4 crop your profile grid uses.

Your file never leaves this device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Drop your video and pick a shape: 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9.
  2. Choose Fill to crop, or Fit to keep the whole frame on a blurred, black or white background. The preview shows the result.
  3. Resize, then download the MP4.

Questions

Why 4:5 for the feed?

It takes more of the screen than a square while still playing in the feed without being cropped.

Why does my post look cut off on my profile?

Since early 2025 the profile grid shows posts as 3:4 tiles, so a 4:5 post loses a little from each side there. The dashed lines on the preview show that crop.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. Your browser does the resizing on your device, and this page can't send the file anywhere.

Fill or Fit?

Fill crops the video so it covers the whole screen, and you choose which part to keep. Fit keeps every pixel and fills the empty space with a blurred copy of the video, or black, or white.

Why is my result smaller than 1080 × 1920?

The tool never upscales. If the part of the video you keep is smaller than the target, the result keeps that size and the right shape rather than getting blurry.

What are the safe zones on the preview?

The shaded areas are where each app puts its buttons, name and caption over your video. Keep text and faces out of them.
