Use Kuro in ChatGPT: add it as a custom MCP plugin

Add Kuro to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server, sign in once, and call it with @ to make images, clips, voice-overs and music without leaving the chat.

ChatGPT adds a remote MCP server as a plugin. Kuro is one: once it is added and you have signed in, you call it with @ in any new conversation, and what it makes lands in your Kuro library.

Kuro is not in ChatGPT’s plugin directory, so you add it yourself, on ChatGPT on the web. It takes a minute.

Add Kuro

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins.

  2. Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.

  3. Name it Kuro. The description is optional.

  4. Under Connection, enter this server URL:

    https://api.meetkuro.com/mcp

  5. For authentication, choose OAuth. Leave the client credentials empty: Kuro supports both ways ChatGPT registers itself, so there is no client ID to paste.

  6. Read the risk warning and select I understand and want to continue.

  7. Select Create as a plugin. ChatGPT lists the tools it found on Kuro.

  8. Find Kuro in your personal plugins and install it.

When ChatGPT sends you to Kuro, sign in (or create an account), review what ChatGPT may do, and approve the connection.

If Add custom MCP server is missing, your workspace may not allow custom servers: OpenAI applies workspace permissions to them.

Use it

Start a new conversation, type @, choose Kuro, and ask:

@Kuro Three vertical images of a charcoal running shoe on a cracked salt flat at dawn. Price it first.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before a tool that changes something runs, and shows you what it is about to send. Kuro marks its reading tools as read-only, so listing your library or checking your credits goes through without a prompt, while starting a generation waits for your yes. You can remember an approval for the rest of a conversation; a new conversation asks again.

To use your own picture, attach it to the message. ChatGPT hands Kuro a link to the file and Kuro fetches it. Attach from the web: files attached in ChatGPT’s phone apps have been reaching servers without a link Kuro can download.

When Kuro changes

Kuro adds tools from time to time. To pick them up, open the plugin from chatgpt.com/plugins, select Refresh, and start a new conversation.

Remove it

Remove the plugin in ChatGPT. To cut every agent off at once, revoke the connection in Kuro under Settings → Connections.

These steps follow OpenAI’s custom MCP server documentation. If a label on your screen differs from the one here, that page has the current one.

Everything here runs in the studio.
