When to reach for it

The cheapest way to make an image here, and it exists for quantity. Mood boards, layout studies, twenty variations of a composition before committing, placeholder art for a storyboard that will be re-rendered later: anything where seeing a spread matters more than any single frame being right.

It takes no reference images. That is the defining limitation and it is not a small one: nothing about a Schnell render can be pinned to a subject you already have. If the image needs to contain a specific person, product or character, this is the wrong model no matter how many attempts you are willing to fund.

Ten aspect ratios, 1 MP, one setting, nothing to tune. Treat it as a sketching tool rather than a production one. Twenty Schnell renders cost less than one Nano Banana 2 at 4K, and twenty compositions teach you more than one crisp wrong one, which is the whole argument for keeping a tier this cheap in the catalog.

How to prompt FLUX Schnell

Describe what you want in your own words and Kuro writes the prompt for you. If you would rather write it yourself, this is what FLUX Schnell responds to.

Text to image and nothing else: the prompt is the whole input, so anything the picture must show has to be written down.

It exists for volume — rapid look exploration, mood boards, thumbnail-quality drafts, many variations of a layout before you spend on a hero model. Keep prompts short and high-signal; it ignores long lists of constraints.

Vary one thing at a time across a batch, so you can tell which change did what. Settle the layout here, then make the final on a model that can see references.

What it can't do

  • No reference images. It cannot see a product, a face or a character, so a likeness cannot be held; a saved Subject contributes only its written description.
  • Output is fixed at one megapixel.
  • Editing one of its pictures moves the edit to a model that can read images, because this one cannot.
  • It is a draft engine. Pictures people will keep belong on another model.
