Convert WebP to JPG
WebP is the format many websites serve pictures in, so it's what you get when you save one. Drop it here to get a JPG that opens everywhere.
Your file never leaves this device. Everything runs in your browser.
How it works
- Drop a HEIC, WebP, PNG, JPG, GIF or AVIF picture.
- Pick JPG, PNG or WebP, and the quality for JPG or WebP.
- Press Convert and download the picture.
Questions
Why did my picture save as WebP?
Many websites send pictures as WebP because it's smaller than JPG or PNG for the same look. Your browser saves the file it was sent, so a picture saved from a page is often a .webp.
What if the WebP has transparency?
JPG can't hold it, so see-through parts become white. Convert to PNG instead to keep them.
Which format should I pick?
JPG for photos you send or post: small, and opened by everything. PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with transparency: it keeps every pixel. WebP is smaller than both for the same look, and every current browser opens it, but some older apps don't.
Does the picture lose quality?
PNG keeps every pixel of what the browser read. JPG and WebP compress; at the default quality of 90 the difference is hard to see. Converting a JPG to PNG can't bring back what the JPG already lost.
What happens to the photo's metadata?
The new file has none: no camera details, no date, no location. The picture is turned the right way up first.
Does my picture get uploaded?
No. It's read and written by this page, in your browser. HEIC photos are read with libheif, which this page loads when you drop one.
