When to reach for it

Nano Banana 2 is the previous version of Google's fast image model. It remains available under Older versions for recipes and saved work that already name it. For a new image, start with Nano Banana 2.1: it costs less at every resolution and accepts fourteen references instead of seven.

The older model keeps its own settings and rate card. It takes seven reference images and offers fourteen aspect ratios, including the wide and tall formats 4:1, 1:4, 8:1 and 1:8. Resolution starts at 1K for 6 credits, rises to 2K for 8.5, and reaches 4K for 13. Choosing an older version does not transfer the newer model's prices or reference capacity to it.

Use it when you deliberately want to continue with the model a recipe was written for. State the scene plainly, give each reference a role, and spell out any lettering exactly. Existing work keeps this model identifier; selecting 2.1 is an explicit choice for a new generation.

How to prompt Nano Banana 2

Nano Banana 2 prompts exactly like 2.1, but seats seven references instead of fourteen, and 2.1 costs less at every resolution. It stays for saved work that was made on it; anything new belongs on 2.1.
