When to reach for it
Nano Banana 2 Lite is the fixed-1K variant of Google's image family. It takes seven reference images and offers fourteen aspect ratios, including the unusually wide and tall 4:1, 1:4, 8:1 and 1:8 formats. It is useful when a draft needs a particular shape and you want a single resolution setting.
An image costs 3 credits. Nano Banana 2.1 also costs 3 credits at 1K, so Lite is not a cheaper credit tier. The newer model accepts fourteen references and can move up to 2K or 4K; Lite stays at 1K. Choose according to the model and capacity you want, rather than expecting a price saving from the Lite name.
Describe the scene, assign a purpose to each reference, and choose the final aspect ratio before generating. A small feed image or thumbnail may need nothing above 1K. If the deliverable needs more pixels or more references, select Nano Banana 2.1 and choose its resolution deliberately.
How to prompt Nano Banana 2 Lite
Nano Banana 2 Lite takes the same plain, editor-style prompts as 2.1, with seven reference seats and output fixed at 1K. It is a fixed-size option rather than a cheaper tier than 2.1.
