Kuro vs Freepik AI (now Magnific): one subscription for images and video
You want many image and video models under one subscription instead of paying each vendor. Freepik's AI suite, renamed Magnific on 28 April 2026, is the biggest name here: a wide catalog, a 250-million-asset stock library and a node canvas. Kuro is narrower and built around agents, saved products and editable storyboards. The deciding questions are what you pay per clip, whether an agent does part of the work, and what you can take with you if you leave.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Kuro if
- an agent does part of the work, you want to bring your own provider keys, or you'd rather keep a product as a few photos than train a model on it. Also if you want storyboards where you can re-shoot one scene at a time.
- Choose Magnific if
- price per clip matters most (on Kling 3.0 Magnific is several times cheaper than Kuro, as the pricing below shows). Also if you need stock photos, icons and mockups, or want a timeline editor and a node canvas in the same subscription.
- Switching probably isn't worth it if
- you're on Premium+ and most of your work runs on the models it keeps unlimited in the web app. No per-generation price beats that, including Kuro's.
The same job in both
A 15-second vertical ad for a product from two product photos: three 9:16 stills on Nano Banana 2, then 15 seconds of Kling 3.0 at 1080p with sound.
Kuro
- Save the product as a Subject from the two photos. There's no training and no charge.
- Start a 9:16 storyboard with three 5-second scenes and tag the product in each. Write the scenes yourself or let an agent draft them over MCP.
- Make the stills on Nano Banana 2 at 2K, keep the takes you like, then animate each scene on Kling v3 at 1080p with audio.
- Render and export. Rendering costs nothing.
One 15-second 9:16 MP4 in your library. You can re-shoot one scene without touching the others, and the product is saved for the next ad.
Magnific
- In the Image Generator, choose Nano Banana 2, add both photos as references, set 9:16 and prompt the scene (75 credits per 2K image).
- In the Video Generator, choose Kling 3.0, use the still as the start image, set 9:16 and 15 seconds, or use Multi-shot for up to six shots.
- Optionally add music or sound effects, then combine, trim and export in the Video Project Editor.
One 15-second 9:16 clip, with a timeline editor for trims and audio. To keep the product consistent across future ads, train a Custom Object or Character on 5 to 35 images.
What decides it
| Decision | Kuro | Magnific | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Models | 57 curated models across image, video, voice and music, each with a written guide. | A wider catalog: Mystic, Nano Banana, Flux, Seedream, GPT Image, Kling, Veo, Seedance 2.0, Wan, Runway and more, plus voice, music, sound effects and 3D. | Magnific Kling 3.0, Video Generator docs, Kuro models |
| Stock library | None. | Over 250 million photos, vectors, icons, videos and templates, plus mockup tools. | Magnific (formerly Freepik) |
| Agent access (MCP) | A hosted MCP server (OAuth) with more than 100 tools, including storyboards from draft to render and export. | A hosted MCP server (OAuth) for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor: generate, upscale, train characters, folders, view Spaces and run saved Flows. It has no timeline or editor tool, and MCP use is always charged in credits, even on Unlimited plans. | Magnific MCP docs, Magnific API pricing, Kuro for agents |
| The same product in every shot | A Subject is saved from photos you already have, with no training and no cost, and you tag it by name. | Custom Characters, Objects and Styles: models trained on 5 to 35 images. Training a character costs 3,000 credits. | Custom Characters, Magnific pricing |
| Several shots as one film | Storyboards: scenes, re-shoot one, render (free) and export. There's no timeline editor. | Multi-shot (up to six shots per generation) and a Video Project Editor timeline for trims and audio. | Video Generator docs, Video Project Editor |
| Entry price | Starter: $19 a month for 800 credits. On the Free plan, work runs on your own keys. | Premium: $20 a month for 20,000 credits, or $14.50 a month billed annually. Premium+ ($45) adds unlimited use of selected models in the web app. | Magnific pricing, Kuro pricing |
| Your own provider keys | Yes: Replicate, fal, Higgsfield, Runware, Siray and OpenRouter. A request one of your keys can run costs no Kuro credits. | No option documented. Every generation draws on Magnific credits. | Magnific API pricing, Kuro for agents |
| Unused credits | Plan credits renew monthly. Top-ups never expire. | Monthly-plan credits reset each month. Extra credits are forfeited if you cancel. | Extra credits, Magnific Terms, Kuro pricing |
| What you can take with you | Every result downloads from your library, and you can download a copy of your data. | Your creations download without limit but one at a time, and there's no documented bulk export. There's also no documented way to export a trained character or a Space. | Downloading content, Kuro Privacy |
| Commercial use | Outputs are yours on every plan, and no model is trained on them. | Paid plans carry a commercial AI licence with no attribution, and Magnific doesn't train on your data. | Licences, Magnific pricing, Kuro Terms |
The same workload, priced
One 15-second vertical ad: three Nano Banana 2 stills at 2K, then 15 seconds of Kling 3.0 at 1080p with native audio.
- Kuro
- 445.5 credits (25.5 for the stills, 420 for three 5-second Kling v3 clips, render free), which is $10.58 at Starter's rate. With your own Higgsfield key, Kling v3 requests Higgsfield can take are billed by Higgsfield instead.
- Magnific
- 2,325 credits, which is $2.33 on Premium billed monthly or $1.69 billed annually. Premium's 20,000 monthly credits cover about eight of these ads.

Moving from Magnific to Kuro
Download the creations you want to keep. Magnific documents no bulk export, so it's one at a time, and the CSV export of metadata per project helps you track what came from where. Upload them to Kuro, or have an agent import them by URL.
A trained Character, Object or Style doesn't come with you, because no export is documented. In Kuro you rebuild it as a Subject from the photos you trained it on, and that takes minutes because there's no training. Spaces and Flows are rebuilt as recipes or storyboards.
Use up your credits before cancelling, because extra credits are forfeited when you do. First thing to test in Kuro: one product Subject and three stills, to see whether it holds the product as well as your trained object did.
How this was checked
Kuro's side comes from Kuro's own catalog and code, and every Kuro price on this page is computed from the live credit table when the site is built. Magnific's side is documented only, from Magnific's pricing, help center, API and MCP documentation and terms. Several of those pages block automated reading, so we read them from search-engine copies of the same URLs. We checked that Magnific's MCP endpoint answers and asks for OAuth, but generated nothing on Magnific. The dollar figures are arithmetic on Magnific's published credit rates and plan prices in USD.
Next check due by January 14, 2027.
