Kuro vs fal MCP: making images and video from Claude or Codex
You use Claude, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want the agent to make the pictures and clips itself. fal and Kuro both have a hosted MCP server you sign in to with OAuth. They differ in what's left when the agent is done: fal returns files from the largest catalog of models, and Kuro keeps the work as a library, saved products and storyboards you can edit later.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Kuro if
- the agent should finish a piece of work, like a multi-shot ad, a set of product shots or a character who comes back. You want every result kept, named and editable afterwards, in an app you can also open yourself.
- Choose fal MCP if
- you want the widest catalog, with new models on day one, 3D and audio utilities, paid strictly per output with no subscription. Your own code or agent already handles storage and assembly.
- Switching probably isn't worth it if
- the agent mostly makes one-off images or single clips that you save straight into your own project. Then the per-output price and catalog breadth are what matter, and Kuro's library and storyboards would sit unused.
The same job in both
From Claude Code, make a 15-second vertical ad for a product from two photos on disk: three 5-second shots on Seedance 2.0 at 720p, joined into one MP4.
Kuro
- Connect once: claude mcp add kuro https://api.meetkuro.com/mcp --transport http, then sign in.
- Ask for the ad. The agent uploads both photos and saves the product as a Subject, so it can be tagged by name.
- It drafts a three-scene storyboard and makes a still for each scene with the product tagged, then shows them to you.
- It animates the scenes, renders the film and exports it.
One 15-second 9:16 MP4 in your library. The storyboard stays editable: re-shoot scene two alone and render again. The product is saved for the next ad.
fal MCP
- Connect once: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user fal https://mcp.fal.ai/mcp-relay, authenticate in /mcp, and buy credits.
- The agent uploads both photos with upload_file. It performs the signed upload itself, because the hosted server can't read local paths.
- It makes a 9:16 still for each shot with an image-edit model, passing both photos each time.
- It submits three image-to-video jobs, polls each one, then calls fal's ffmpeg merge endpoint with the three clip URLs in order.
One 15-second MP4 at a fal CDN URL, kept for at least 7 days by default, which you download. Redoing shot two means running it and the merge again. Nothing is saved for the next ad.
What decides it
| Decision | Kuro | fal MCP | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| What the agent can reach | More than 100 tools: generate, edit and upscale; library search; Subjects; storyboards with render and export; recipes; voice and music. | 11 tools: search models, read a schema, price, search docs, recommend, run, submit, check, fetch a result, cancel, upload. Any model in fal's catalog runs through them. | fal MCP docs, Kuro for agents |
| Models | 57 curated models (20 image, 29 video, 6 voice, 2 music), each with a written guide the agent reads before first use. | fal's whole catalog: image, video, audio, 3D and media utilities. New models usually land here first. | fal models, Kuro models |
| Where results go | Every result is saved to your library, named and tagged, and the agent can search it later. Storage is part of the plan (5 GiB on Free, 50 GiB on Starter). | No library or history tool in the MCP. Outputs are CDN URLs kept for at least 7 days by default. They're public to anyone with the link unless you restrict them. | fal media expiration, fal CDN, Kuro pricing |
| The same product or person in every shot | Save a Subject once from photos you already have, with no training. Tag it by name in any request and Kuro seats the references. | Pass the reference images again on every request (for example Kling's elements or Seedance 2.5 reference-to-video). Nothing is saved between jobs. | fal Seedance 2.5, Kuro for agents |
| Several shots as one film | A storyboard: scenes, re-shoot one scene, render and export. Rendering costs no credits. | Separate jobs, then the ffmpeg merge endpoint. Timeline editing lives in fal Agent, a browser product the docs don't expose over MCP. | fal merge-videos, fal Agent |
| How you pay | A monthly plan from $19 (800 credits), or top-ups that never expire. The Free plan runs on your own provider keys. | Prepaid credits charged per output, no subscription. Purchased credits expire 365 days after purchase. | fal pricing, fal Terms, Kuro pricing |
| Your own fal key | Accepted. Requests fal can run on GPT Image 2, Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3 Max and Kling Avatar v2 are billed to your fal account and cost no Kuro credits. | Not applicable: fal is the provider. | Kuro for agents |
| Who owns the output | Your outputs are yours, and Kuro trains no model on them. Each model provider's own terms apply on top. | Licences are per model, and fal says most allow commercial use. fal's Terms don't expressly assign output ownership and note outputs may not be unique. | fal FAQ, fal Terms, Kuro Terms |
The same workload, priced
One 15-second vertical ad: three Nano Banana 2 stills at 1K, three 5-second Seedance 2.0 clips at 720p from those stills, joined into one MP4.
- Kuro
- 243 credits (18 for the stills, 225 for the clips, render free), which is $5.77 at Starter's rate. Starter is $19 a month for 800 credits. Through your own fal key, clips on Seedance 2.5 bill to fal instead.
- fal MCP
- About $4.79: $0.24 for three Nano Banana 2 stills at $0.08, $4.55 for three Seedance 2.0 clips at about $1.52 each, and $0 for the merge. Pay as you go, no subscription.

Moving from fal MCP to Kuro
There is nothing to migrate from fal. Its MCP keeps no library, so what you have are files. Bring the ones you want to reuse into Kuro with an upload, or ask the agent to import them by URL.
Keep your fal key. In Kuro, Settings → API keys accepts it. Requests on the four models Kuro routes through fal are then billed to your fal account, and everything else runs on credits.
Both servers can stay connected in the same client: fal for a model Kuro doesn't carry, Kuro for anything that should be kept, cast or cut together. Test one thing first: save your product as a Subject from two photos and ask for three stills. That shows whether the product holds across shots before you spend on video.
How this was checked
Kuro's side comes from Kuro's own catalog and code. Every Kuro price on this page is computed from the live credit table when the site is built. fal's side is documented only, from fal's own documentation, model, pricing and terms pages. We also checked, without signing in, that both fal MCP endpoints answer and ask for OAuth. We used no fal account and generated nothing on fal. The per-clip totals are arithmetic on fal's published per-second rates.
Next check due by January 14, 2027.
