## How it works

1. Pick where it's going: Discord, email, Outlook, WhatsApp, a size of your own, or a quality level.
2. Drop your video. The tool works out the resolution and bitrate that fit.
3. Download the smaller MP4.

## Questions

### Does my video get uploaded?

No. The video is read and re-encoded by your browser, on your device. This page can't send the file anywhere: its security policy only allows it to talk to its own site and to the page-view counter.

### Why is the file still bigger than I hoped?

A size target is spread over every second of the video. A long video in a small target would need a bitrate so low the picture falls apart, so the tool lowers the resolution first and tells you when even that isn't enough. Trimming the video is the other way down.

### What format do I get?

An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which every platform and phone plays.

### Is there a size limit?

Files up to 2 GB and videos up to 15 minutes. Longer videos are better trimmed first.
