# Veo 3.1 Fast

Google · Shorts · standard

Veo without references, at roughly a third of the price. The single-shot tool.

## What it costs

- 5s · silent: 42 credits (≈ $1.00)
- 5s · with audio: 62.5 credits (≈ $1.48)

Dollar figures are approximate, at the Starter plan's rate of $19.00 for 800 credits.

## What it takes

- **Aspect ratios**: 16:9 9:16
- **Resolutions**: 720p 1080p
- **Duration**: 4, 6, 8 seconds
- **Reference images**: Not accepted
- **Last frame**: Accepted

## When to reach for it

Same 16:9 and 9:16, the same 4, 6 and 8 second steps, and the same self-generated audio as full Veo 3.1, at 42 credits for a silent five-second take against 83.5, and 62.5 with audio against 167. For a shot that stands alone, that is a straightforward saving with little given up.

What is given up is references. Fast takes none, so nothing about the clip can be pinned to a character, product or look you already have. It is a single-shot tool, and planning a multi-shot sequence around it is the mistake to avoid, because the run will not hold together.

It does still accept a last frame, so first-and-last-frame interpolation works, and a chain built purely on frame handoff is possible even without reference images. That is a weaker form of continuity than full Veo's, but it is not nothing, and for b-roll and establishing shots it is usually enough. This is also the cheapest silent clip in the Veo family, since Lite has no silent mode.

## How to prompt Veo 3.1 Fast

Veo 3.1 Fast reads the same shooting script, clock and sound notation as Veo 3.1 at lower fidelity, which makes it the place to rehearse a brief before the keeper. It has no reference-image slot, so it cannot rehearse a reference shot.

## Made with it

- [Veo 3.1 vs Veo 3.1 Fast](https://meetkuro.com/compare/veo-3.1-vs-veo-3.1-fast.md): Fast for a shot that stands alone. Full Veo the moment the clip has to match something else.

## Guides that cover it

- [Veo 3.1: the complete prompting guide](https://meetkuro.com/guides/veo-3-1-prompting.md): Eight seconds of video that writes its own soundtrack. Three audio channels, seven rules, four pipelines and the failures worth knowing about first.

## Veo 3.1 Fast is one pick in the composer.
