# Eleven v4

ElevenLabs · Voice · premium

Expressive voice-over with inline audio tags, George, and your saved ElevenLabs voices.

## What it costs

- Per 1,000 characters: 6.67 credits (≈ $0.16)

Dollar figures are approximate, at the Starter plan's rate of $19.00 for 800 credits.

## What it takes

- **Voices**: 1
- **Languages**: 29
- **Text limit**: 4,000 characters

## When to reach for it

Eleven v4 makes expressive voice-overs through ElevenLabs directly. Start with George or choose a voice you have saved in Kuro. Direct the performance with audio tags such as [whispers], [excited], and [laughs] inside the spoken text.

There is no separate style, speed, or emotion control. Kuro keeps its 4,000 UTF-8-byte text limit, and the regular provider rate is $80 per million characters. Eleven v3 remains available with its own preset roster and speed control.

Use it for character lines, expressive narration, and voice-overs whose delivery matters. Preview George or a saved voice before choosing, then keep that voice on a Subject when the same character needs to speak across several clips. A saved voice is shared between v3 and v4, so you can compare their readings without adding it twice. For inexpensive neutral narration, Kokoro and Inworld remain useful alternatives; choose v4 when the performance is the reason for the take.

## How to prompt Eleven v4

Describe what you want in your own words and Kuro writes the prompt for you. If you would rather write it yourself, this is what Eleven v4 responds to.

Eleven v4 is directed inside the text itself. Type an audio tag such as [whispers], [excited], [sighs] or [laughs] in front of the phrase it should steer, so a single line can turn twice.

A tag steers the phrase it sits in front of, not the whole take. Put one where the delivery changes rather than a pile at the start.

A flat paragraph reads about as well here as anywhere else. This model earns its place on text somebody has actually directed — punctuation, line breaks and tags placed where the delivery should change.

Write the words exactly as they should be spoken, and set the language.

Lines can continue the ones before them, which keeps a split script sounding like one performance. Generate them in order, and let each finish before starting the next.

The same advice covers [Eleven v3](https://meetkuro.com/models/elevenlabs-tts.md). Their pages note what differs.

### What it can't do

- No separate style or emotion field, and no speed control: delivery is the tags and the writing.
- At most 4,000 characters per take. Split a longer script.
- Voices are ElevenLabs voices: the preset George, or a voice saved to your account. A saved voice works on both Eleven v3 and v4, so their readings can be compared.
- ElevenLabs has announced that its default voice roster is replaced on 31 December 2026. A preset that disappears upstream stops working; a saved voice does not depend on the roster.
- Output is MP3.

### Use something else when…

- It is long, neutral narration where clarity matters more than performance: [Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS](https://meetkuro.com/models/gemini-3.1-flash-tts.md).
- You want a discrete emotion and a speed dial rather than inline tags: [MiniMax Speech 2.8 HD](https://meetkuro.com/models/minimax-speech-2.8-hd.md).
- The script is still moving and you need drafts: [Kokoro 82M](https://meetkuro.com/models/kokoro-82m.md).

## Eleven v4 is one pick in the composer.

Every model in this catalog runs from the same prompt bar, priced in the same credits.
